Poutine

Now you know we couldn’t have an article about Canadian Edible Cannabis recipes without this Quebec favourite. We all know that Poutine is delicious all on its own but adding a bit of cannabis can take it to a whole new level of deliciousness! Infusing cannabis into your poutine recipe and is pretty simple and involves working with butter. For this recipe you will need:

Gravy

  • ½ cup Unsalted weed butter
  • ¼ cup Flour
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • ½ cup Chicken broth
  • 2 Tbs Water
  • 3 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 10 Rusette potatoes- You can make your own fries or you can use ready-made fries. We recommend Cavendish Flavour Crisp Fries
  • Cheese: White Cheese Curds- You can find this in the deli aisle of your local grocery store

Instructions:

To make the weed butter you can use a weed butter maker. If you do not have one you can buy one here. You can also make weed butter by following this recipe. Once your weed butter is ready it’s time to make your Canna-Poutine.

  1. If making your own fries: Cut potatoes into strips and soak in cold water for at least 1hr.
  2. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl and set aside
  3. Melt weed butter in saucepan. Whisk in flour little by little until thickened and golden brown.
  4. Add both beef and chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add cornstarch mixture until you reach desired thickness. Add salt and pepper to taste as needed.
  5. For homemade fries: Heat oil in a deep pot or fry pan to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Blot fries dry with paper towel. Fry for 6-8 and set aside. Increase oil temperature to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook fries until golden brown.
  6. Heat gravy if needed.
