I’ve been living with armadillos, turkey vultures and whiskey drinking deer for the past 6 years. I come from a time when hopping train turnstiles & finding a quiet spot in the park was necessary. What’s crazy is how stealthy we thought we were when in fact no matter how careful you were, you’re sessions would still echo throughout the area. On my recent visit to Riverdale, I got rerouted off the highway heading to my wife’s parents’ place & decided to pullover until the traffic let up. As I’m sitting in the car I hear a light knock on the window from someone saying thanks for holding the spot that they’ll be here in a minute. I shrugged my shoulders & ignored them. After about 10 minutes I hear a light honk, I knew I was really in NY now, but didn’t pay much attention. The driver got out and said you can go now I kind of laughed at him.. But wait, he looks familiar. It was someone I used to write graffiti with like 30 years ago. Immediately, the days from our youth passed before our eyes. He thought I was picking up some bud & my reply was, “Are we on Dyckman?”. Little did I know I was parked outside a dispensary that an old friend was coming to pick up his weekly stash. After moving to Nashville, I never thought of entering a dispensary on my visits to NYC. Fast forward, I entered the store and it was such an experience. The staff is very knowledgeable & it was a weird experience. Me being a little old school the owner had overheard me talking about the good old days & gave me the 90’s experience I once adored. After spending the next half hour with one of the budtenders, I never realized all the benefits of different stains were. I will be visiting the shop every time I head back from my in laws.
